Founded and led by Shifu Michael Revell, the Tallahassee Family Martial Arts Club is dedicated to the study and preservation of Pan Gai Noon (PGN)—a traditional Okinawan system rooted in Chinese martial arts principles.

Michael began his journey in 1988 at age 15 under Sensei Allen Bentley, training in the Pan Gai Noon system for three years. During this time, he mastered eight forms (including two weapons forms) and earned his Instructor’s Black Belt at 18.

In 1991, Michael began teaching, starting with a summer camp program at Majestic Oaks Farm, followed by classes at New College in Sarasota and Olympian Gym in Bradenton, FL. It was at Olympian Gym that Michael met Reverend ShiHan Allan Horton, who invited him to study at his dojo. Under ShiHan Horton’s guidance, Michael embarked on an in-depth exploration of the three central forms of PGN—an experience that deepened his understanding and reshaped his approach to the art.

Over the next several years, Michael trained with both ShiHan Horton and HanShi Bentley, eventually earning his 5th Dan (GoDan) and the title of ShiHan in 2011. He received his 7th Dan in 2024 by HanShi Bentley and was recognized by the president of the IUKF, DarenYee. His training also included time with several Traditional Uechi-Ryu instructors, integrating their kata and applications into his practice.

Through decades of study, Shifu Michael has unified three distinct interpretations of the PGN system into what he now teaches as Wan (“Ten Thousand”) Style PGN—a system that honors the Chinese heritage of Pan Gai Noon while emphasizing adaptability, mindfulness, and family-centered instruction.
